and have now passed away. We will be forever 
grateful for their leadership, dedication, and service to us 
and the citizens of Mitchell County. There are many officers who

Captain Russell Sheppard

Deputy/Jail Administrator

Captain Russell Sheppard passed away on January 8, 2023. 
He had recently retired last summer after serving almost 30 years with the Sheriff's Office. 
Most of his life was devoted to public service. He was a Veteran, Peace Officer, and a Minister.
He served the citizens of Mitchell County well and will be forever remembered.



Tommy Butler

Sye Thomas "Tommy" Butler, passed away on December 28, 2019.
 Tommy served in several positions while employed at the Sheriff's Office,
 including Chief Deputy. He was a true friend and well-liked by the community.  


Jimmy Dixon

Edward Lee "Jimmy" Dixon, passed away early Christmas morning on 
December 25,  2016. Jimmy  was a dedicated and 
faithful employee who greeted everyone with a smile, and he left a 
lasting impression on everyone that he came into contact with. 
Our law enforcement family will never be the same.
